Lesson #67 - My only enemy.
In the next day after the incident, (Hiroshi) Uchiyamada
is storming to the pier to see his Cresta being pulled out
from the water, and he become very angry. The operator tell
him to calm down, saying that if he knows which terrorist
group who had done it, it will be easier. He continued saying
that his car is totally damaged, the cost of repairing it
is higher than buying a new one. The operator then slapped
the bill totaling 172000 yen for hauling his car out, and
tell him that he has to deal with the insurance companies
first. Before the operator goes off, he gives Uchiyamada the
last remains of his Cresta, a Toyota logo. After everyone
left, he kneeled on the pier and started to scream....
In the next scene, Uchiyamada is on the way home, cursing
his luck, and still he managed to fondle a woman inside the
train that is almost empty. He cursed at the absence of the
police, and how he as the victim, still has to pay for the
repairs. He started to lash at everyone, from the Prime Minister
at that time (Ryutaro Hashimoto) to everyone else. He considered
to write a letter to the newspapers, but worried that he will
feel the backlash.
He then arrived at his house, and started to pound at the
door, but no response. He started to lash out at his wife
Riyoko, for being so late, and started to open the door with
his own lock. He then entered the house, weeping while he
complained that his Cresta is damaged again while showing
the Toyota logo he affixed at his head, when suddenly Riyoko
asked him why he returned so early, while fixing her clothes,
and sweating. Uchiyamada is shocked, and he looked outside
his house to see a lorry being driven away from his house.
Riyoko started to ask Uchiyamada why he doesn’t call
before he returned home, as the meat seller had come earlier,
bringing the meat and also that they had talked about making
a good dish from the meat. Uchiyamada then see a box of tissues,
an ashtray filled with cigarettes, 2 cups of coffee with one
of them had lipstick stains on it, and a strand of hair that
suspiciously looked like a pubic hair. Uchiyamada started
to get nervous, as he started to suspect his wife of...
Uchiyamada is now bathing, as he thinks about what he had
seen earlier. He then started to doubt about his position
in the family. After bathing, in the dining table, Riyoko
and Yoshiko have started to have dinner while watching TV.
He complained about them of not waiting for him when eating,
and also for Yoshiko to stop watching TV when eating. He asked
Riyoko to take the beer out, but is ignored by Riyoko who
signaled him to get it himself. Then he wanted to take his
seat, just to see that his seat has been taken over by a dog
with a V-shaped fringe on its head.
He tried to shoo the dog away, but instead the dog started
to bite him. Uchiyamada panics, and started to force the dog
to let him go by kicking him, as Yoshiko started to lash at
him for being so cruel to her dog. Yoshiko started to calm
her dog, and to Uchiyamada' shock, she started to call her
dog Eikichi, and the dog calmed down. The angry Uchiyamada
questioned about the dog name, asking about why she didn't
use the real name of the dog, which is Leonardo. Yoshiko replied
that the dog doesn't respond to that name, but the dog will
with the name 'Eikichi'. He asked her to find another name,
but she protested, as Eikichi started to lick her pants in
the view of an angry Uchiyamada.
In the TV room, Yoshiko and Riyoko are watching TV, while
Uchiyamada is looking angrily at Eikichi who already taken
his place again. Using a golf putter, he tried to shoo Eikichi
away, but is ignored. Uchiyamada is enraged and tried to hit
Eikichi with the putter, but Eikichi suddenly go off the chair.
Uchiyamada smiles, and sits on the chair, just to see that
Eikichi had already shitting on the chair. Uchiyamada started
to hit on Eikichi again just to be lashed again by Yoshiko
and Riyoko.
Washing his stained robe on the washing machine, he started
to curse Eikichi again, as Eikichi looked at him from behind.
He also blamed Yoshiko for giving a name of the man he hated
most to the dog. Suddenly, he sees Eikichi is biting at his
golf set, shocking him, and Eikichi started to piss on his
golf ball. He started to try to kill Eikichi and get another
lashing from Yoshiko again.
In the school, (Tadashi) Sakurai showed Uchiyamada the dogs'
hierarchy system. It listed Riyoko, the owner of the owner
of the dog, at the top, then Yoshiko, the owner of the dog,
below Riyoko. Under Yoshiko, is the dog itself, and lastly,
Uchiyamada, which is labeled as an enemy. Uchiyamada asked
him why he is below, and Sakurai replied that the dog can
rarely see him at the house, so it's normal for the dog to
assume him as an enemy, and that's why the dog always bite
him. (webmaster note: Pretty logical too)
Back to his house, Uchiyamada who are protected from head
to toe, and armed with the golf putter, is trying to ambush
the sleeping Eikichi, while cursing him for adding more misery
to his life, and that he wants to drive home the point that
he is the master of the house. He started to swing the putter
at Eikichi, but Eikichi effortlessly avoided all of his blows
(just like the real Eikichi) and suddenly, he is caught red-handed
by Yoshiko. Yoshiko started to check on Eikichi, saying that
if she knows it will happen, she won't buy him the Father
Day' tie she bought for him.
Uchiyamada is shocked, and an angry Yoshiko gives him the
tie, as she walked away with Eikichi, still cursing at Uchiyamada.
Uchiyamada started to try the tie at the mirror, and then
he sees Eikichi standing on the doorway. With the tie on his
neck, he started to apologize to Eikichi, when suddenly Eikichi
snapped at his tie and tearing it. Uchiyamada started to become
angry again, and trying to beat Eikichi, who avoided all of
his blows easily, as Yoshiko started to lash at him....
