Lesson #198 – Good luck and goodbye.

(Suguru) Teshigawara is carving inside his jail as the news flash spreads the news about a typhoon warning that is about to hit Japan at 8pm. A close-up of the carving shows that Teshigawara is carving a statuette that resembles (Eikichi) Onizuka’s face. Suddenly, the unfinished statuette breaks at the neck, and Teshigawara is stunned at what have happened. He then looks toward the cell window, and muttered Onizuka’s name…

Somewhere else in the city, a lots of Onizuka’s biker gang members roared after learning that Onizuka is dying. One of them refused to believe the rumor, saying that Onizuka will only die if someone snuck in when he is asleep and impale his heart with sharpened cross woods. Meanwhile another asked about which hospital Onizuka is warded, and somebody else replied that he is warded at Kichiyouji Hospital, and tells all the gang members to go and visit him. A gang member complains, saying that the typhoon is about to arrive, but he is scolded by someone else, saying that if the typhoon wants to come, let it be, because an emergency meeting is about to be held to discuss about what have happened.

The police are alarmed because the biker gang members caused the Kichiyouji Ward to be lightened up, and they started to call for back-ups. (Toshiyuki) Saejima who are in duty, is called to help by a disgruntled colleague, who complains about how weird it is that the biker gang members are gathering in numbers right before a typhoon is about to hit the city. The colleague then went on to stop the bikers, and Saejima is shocked to see the kanji for “Santama Association” written on the biker gangs’ jackets. He recognize the group straight away as admirers of Onizuka (webmaster note: The very same gang Onizuka is riding with in volume 1), as the public are stunned to such a huge number of high-powered bikes racing on the street.

Back to the hospital, the doctors and nurses are still trying to revive Onizuka back to life. A doctor tried to shock him back to life (webmaster note: with a device you can commonly see on TVs, but I don’t know what the device is called). His attempt failed, and he instructed the nurses to inject him with more drugs. (Ryuji) Danma is silent as he watched the medical team doing everything they can, when he suddenly snapped, shoved the doctors aside, and punched Onizuka right on his heart. The doctor and the nurses are shocked to see what Danma have done, and they promptly grabbed him as they asked on what he is trying to do with punching Onizuka’s lifeless heart. The angry Danma replied that he punched him so that he will be revived, and that Onizuka will not die just because of such a minor injury. Onizuka is still not responding to what the medical team and Danma have done to him, as Danma continued, saying that every time they are on the verge of death, they will always emerged stronger than ever. The crying Danma then continued to punch Onizuka again while screaming that Onizuka will not die, and asked Onizuka whether he is right....

All the time, all Onizuka felts in the room is its serenity, as he failed to hear any sounds, either from the life support system, the rampaging Danma or the crying (Azusa) Fuyutsuki. Suddenly, he hears a voice asking him whether he really wants to rest forever at that “place”. The voice asked again whether Onizuka is sure with his answer, and then exclaimed that the voice will bring him there…

Suddenly, Onizuka awakened on a flowery plain, facing Masaki-sempai. Onizuka silently thinks that he truly is not fit to become a teacher and Onizuka started to remember all memories he have as a biker gang leader and his adventures with Danma in Bad Company. Onizuka challenged a mysterious person for a race, saying that it has been quite a long time since they have one, and since the, his speed has increased, presumably even faster than the mysterious person himself. Answering the challenge, the mysterious person and Onizuka then raced in a race dubbed “Fastest race in history”…

Suddenly, Masaki-sempai lashed at him, and asked Onizuka about when he has started to become someone who likes to leave a job half-done. He reminded Onizuka that in high school, even that he is the one Onizuka is racing with, Onizuka will always tried to defeat him, chasing even that he has fallen and suffered serious injuries. He continued, saying that he really likes Onizuka’s persistence, thus he gives him a present, a Kawasaki ZII which is a symbol of speed. Not only that, he also gives Onizuka a special jacket. Masaki-sempai then tells him not to even think about quitting, because after all, Onizuka is just about to turn over a new leaf. If Onizuka does quit just because he is felled down by such a minor accident, Onizuka will never be able to catch him in a race. Masaki-sempai then exclaimed that Onizuka should just hit the gas as hard as he can and continued to move forward. Masaki-sempai then smiled, and says that no matter what have happened; Onizuka doesn’t have any choice but to continue moving forward with all his might, because it’s the only way Onizuka should continued his life. Masaki-sempai reiterated that Onizuka should also step on the pedal, and brings the kids racing on the endless road of life, and he must become the greatest teacher on the whole of Japan. Masaki-sempai then makes Onizuka to promise to do what he have said before, and he walks away as he called Onizuka the “Greatest Teacher”…

Back to the school, the fire has become larger, and (Hiroshi) Kochiyatani panics with the fire burning his bachelor party photo albums. He tried to rescue one of the albums, while wondering on who has set the school in fire, when he suddenly realized that the fire has also caught another of his photo albums. Meanwhile, (Shiro) Shibuya can be heard laughing as he tells the fire to burn everything down and all the people in it, including the traitors to ashes. (Misuzu) Daimon asked him on what he is doing, and tells him to stop or else the police will arrest him again. Instead, Shibuya poured gasoline on her, as he screamed at her to shut up, because after all, everything he has done has been taught to him by her. He then lights up a lighter, as he accused Daimon of betraying him, even that she has once said that she will help him. He then accused Daimon of being just the same as his mother, who wants to dump him, and he proceeds to torch the gasoline-stained room.

Suddenly, (Noboru) Yoshikawa appeared, and tackled him from behind, causing Shibuya the drop the lighter from his hand. Shibuya is shocked to see Yoshikawa, and Yoshikawa tells Shibuya not to do such things again. He asked Shibuya whether what he is about to do will benefit him, and tells him that he should not hurt anyone else. Shibuya tried to push Yoshikawa away, saying that what he is doing doesn’t have anything to do with Yoshikawa, but Yoshikawa refused, saying that he have to care because Shibuya is his friend. Shibuya becomes angry when he hears him, and screamed that he doesn’t have the time to deal with Yoshikawa.

Yoshikawa then replied that he understands how Shibuya is feeling, because he (Yoshikawa) is just the same as him. He then remembered that when (Anko) Uehara and friends bullied him, no one wants to help him. Every time when it happened, he will always try to blame someone else for what have happened, but since Onizuka comes to the school, only that he realized that he can’t do things like that. Meanwhile, Shibuya is unsheathing his paper knife, as Yoshikawa continued, saying that things will not change by pushing the fault to others, so Shibuya has to reinvent himself or else he will not be able to find his way in life.

The angry Shibuya screamed that Yoshikawa is merely a bullied boy, who doesn’t have any right to lecture him. He then raised the knife to stab him, much to the shock of (Ryoko) Sakurai, as he asked Yoshikawa on what are the things he have to change. He reiterated the fact that his hatred for being left alone will never change no matter how much the amount of “reinvention” he has done. As he tried to stab Yoshikawa, a voice commanded him to stop but it’s too late as Shibuya’s knife has already found its target, but much to his shock, he finds out that he have stabbed Daimon who has jumped to protect Yoshikawa from being stabbed.

Daimon collapsed from the wound, while the stunned Shibuya can only stare at her in disbelief. Blood start seeping out from her mouth, as she asked Shibuya whether his hatred has lessened after what he has done. The shell-shocked Shibuya shivered, and stammered as he asked himself on why he stabbed Daimon, when suddenly, Daimon stands up and pushed Shibuya, Sakurai and Yoshikawa out of the server room. Yoshikawa tried to ask her on what she is doing, but she ignored him and proceeds to lock the server room from inside after pushing all of them to the corridor.

The shocked Sakurai screamed, asking Daimon on what she is doing, and commanded her to open the door and gets out because fire has already spread into the room. Daimon replied, saying that Sakurai should bring Shibuya and Yoshikawa outside the building as fast as she can, because she wants to stay inside the room. She then tells Sakurai to lie for her for the last time, and tells the authorities that she is the one who torched down the school. She asked Sakurai whether she can do it, because if she can’t, everyone will put all the blame on Shibuya, plus after all, what has happened is all her fault. Shibuya is stunned after hearing her, as Daimon smiled and commented that at least she is now able to become a real “angel”. Hearing that, Sakurai screamed, asking on what the hell she is trying to say, and urged her to go out, as the fire started to become bigger…
