Great
Teacher Onizuka volume 25 – Cover: Onizuka with a victory
sign.
(Eikichi Onizuka smiling as he gives his thumbs-up to the readers).
Lesson #196 – Sayonara.
(Nagisa) Nagase arrived at the hospital where (Eikichi) Onizuka
is warded, and she is stunned after she sees him on life support.
(Ryuji) Danma asked her on why she is late, and tells her
that she doesn’t have to have that worried look on her
face because Onizuka is simply “resting”. (Urumi)
Kanzaki is seen slumping on his bedside, alongside with (Azusa)
Fuyutsuki while (Kunio) Murai and (Taadaki) Kusano are standing
silently behind Danma. Danma started to clench his fist, as
if he is holding something back, and muttered that Onizuka
used to act aggressively all the time, so his conditions now
is just normal (webmaster note: or Danma wants to say that
Onizuka always encountered such sickness, take your pick).
He assured her that she doesn’t have to think hard,
because Onizuka will get off the bed in no time. Danma is
now shown trying to force a smile, as he asked Nagisa whether
she agrees if he says that it’s impossible for Onizuka
to die. Suddenly, he whacked the table next to the bed with
Onizuka is still in coma, and screamed that Onizuka is a species
of man that is invincible, and he will not die under any circumstances.
Nagisa is speechless when she hears him…
Back to the police station, (Shiro) Shibuya is still biting
his thumb as the detective who interrogates him is asked by
a colleague whether Shibuya has talked, but the detective
replied in the negative. His colleague sighed, and commented
that kids nowadays are too explosive, and wants to kill for
petty reasons. He continued, trying to say that the kids doesn’t
even know how to fight, when suddenly the detective snapped,
and asked the colleague whether he has contacted Shibuya’s
parents. The colleague replied, saying that he have obtained
Shibuya’s records from his school to get his parents
to come to the police station, and in the process he has also
heard that Shibuya has been living alone for nearly half a
year, with the school’s headmaster as the guardian.
The detective is shocked to hear him.
Shibuya started to remember how he has been told that there
is something wrong with his mind, as a policewoman tells the
detective that Shibuya’s parents doesn’t want
to come to the police station, and they instead urged the
police to find someone else to bail Shibuya out. The detective
becomes angry when he hears her, and lashed at the parents
for ignoring what their son have done. He wondered on what
have happened to Japanese parents nowadays, while Shibuya
himself reminisced on how his mother tells a teacher from
his former school that she will not do such a “dirty”
thing, and accused Shibuya of hallucinating. Shibuya also
remembers how her mom tells the teacher that her husband and
she are pondering whether to sent Shibuya to a mental hospital
(webmaster note: This flashback is just like what Shibuya
have in Lesson #194).
Meanwhile, the detective attempted to talk with Shibuya’s
mother to ask her to come to the police station, as Shibuya
started to silently ask his parents on why they wants to send
him to a mental hospital, and wondered whether they doesn’t
want him anymore. The detective tells his mother over the
phone that the police don’t know what to do with Shibuya
anymore. Suddenly, the detective is shocked when he hears
Shibuya’s mother telling him that they (Shibuya’s
parents) are scared of Shibuya, as Shibuya now has become
angry at his parents for looking down on him. The detective
did not believe what Shibuya’s mother has said, and
started to scold her for being irresponsible when suddenly
he realized that Shibuya is standing right behind him, with
the detective’s gun on his hands. He promptly shoots
the detective’s leg, and Shibuya started to laugh, saying
that the detective deserved it.
A commotion started to happen in the police station, as the
detective screamed, asking the fleeing Shibuya on what he
is doing. His colleagues started to attend on him, when (Noboru)
Yoshikawa is shocked to learn that Shibuya has escaped. Meanwhile,
Shibuya who is back on the streets, asked himself on why all
people wanted to dump him like an unwanted stray dog, and
vowed to kill all people who look down on him. He then ripped
the petrol tank of his bike, and vowed that he will burn all
his enemies to ashes.
Switching to the school, inside the server room, (Misuzu)
Daimon lashed at (Ryoko) Sakurai for saying that she (Sakurai)
believed on her, when she herself doesn’t come to the
school when Daimon burned it down. Sakurai is silent as Daimon
continued, saying that Sakurai only know pretending that she
believes on her students as she cheats them. She reminded
Sakurai, that she has told her to befriend other students,
and that schools do not exist just to study, but for other
purposes too. Daimon then accused her of being a liar and
that everything Sakurai has said to her in the past are all
lies.
Daimon then accused the people like Sakurai who runs private
schools as greedy bastards who put profits above everything
else, thus they doesn’t have any right to say anything
about making a perfect school. She continued, saying that
she knows now the true meaning of the word “friend”
(webmaster note: actually there’s 2 words that symbolize
“friend” there, but as both of them translate
to “friend” anyway, I left out the other one),
and its all bullshit. She tells Sakurai that she doesn’t
learn it from anyone, but from Sakurai. Daimon now started
to have a flashback…
[Flashback mode on]
A student tells a friend that her classmate Daimon’s
father is now in jail for arson, and that he commits the crime
because he was fired and wants to take revenge. The friends
is shocked to hear it, and exclaimed that the rumor she have
heard all along is true. Daimon is shown sitting at her desk,
when the rumormonger continued, saying that she have heard
that the fire that erupts inside the trash bin in another
class is caused by Daimon…
[Flashback off]
Daimon then tells Sakurai that she never thought that the
friends she has made will become enemies in the next day.
She continued, saying that she has originally respected them
as friends, and tells them her secrets, but instead she becomes
their sitting duck for abuse merely two days after that. Daimon
reiterated, saying that what has happened to her is a reality,
and such cases also happened everywhere else. She reminded
her that the condition at the Kichiyouji Private School has
become worse since Sakurai last worked as a teacher 20 years
ago, and it is all because of the fault of teachers like Sakurai
who have created an invisible barrier between the students
and teachers, and then pretend to ignore that the barrier
is not there. Daimon then started to have another flashback…
[Flashback mode on]
A female student asked a male student, wondering
whether the news about Daimon sending him love letters is
right, and whether the male students wanted to befriend her.
The male student laughed, saying that the female student is
insane, and that he promptly throws away the letter when he
received it. He continued, not realizing that Daimon is listening
from around the corner, that Daimon is infested by the ‘arson
bugs’ which have the tendencies to release flames, and
that he is finished if he is also infected by such a bug.
In the next scene, Sakurai is shown trying to comfort the
crying Daimon, and she says that a few students are jealous
of Daimon because she is beautiful, famous and smart, plus
because the school they are in is a private school filled
with outstanding kids, those who jumped classes (webmaster
note: meaning that a student is promoted from Year 1 to Year
3 automatically, not skipping classes) always have the desire
to outsmart the rest of their classmates…
[Flashback mode off]
The angry Daimon then commented that what Sakurai is saying
in the flashback is actually to tell her that everyone is
born “evil” from the start, quoting some Japanese
philosopher, and that everyone is being nice when in face-to-face
contact with someone, when actually they will look down upon
that someone deep inside their heart. She continued, saying
that messages in bulletin boards are more dangerous, because
there you can find lots of anonymous people spreading lies
and gossip against someone else, using the boards as a medium
to spread their anger and dissatisfaction to the whole world.
People like them will laugh at the misfortune of others, and
will also bully them if given the chance. Daimon started to
laugh, saying that Japanese people likes to satisfy themselves
by casting misfortune upon others, and that such people are
shameless to say the least. She asked Sakurai on why she should
believe people like that, as she started to have yet another
flashback…
[Flashback mode on]
Sakurai continued telling the sad Daimon that everyone
is just jealous of her, because they failed to compete with
someone who entered the school with “jump class”
results, so they will combine forces to bully those who excel
more than them. Sakurai explained that all people will surely
not feeling good when they founds out that someone is better
than them, so when a chance to bully that someone comes, they
will surely grab that chance.
[Flashback mode off]
Daimon then tells Sakurai that because of the reason she
have said earlier, she wants to train a group of student that
will never bow to the unfair world. Those students will never
believe on anyone, will never be influenced and believes solely
on the strength and energy of oneself, to become the resilient
kids molded in her vision.
Suddenly, Sakurai asked Daimon whether such kids can be considered
resilient, and exclaimed that such kids aren’t ‘resilient’,
and that they are only faking it. She continued, telling Daimon
that a truly resilient person is someone who didn’t
always put his own interest above all else. A resilient kid
is someone who can reach out to others and feels their pain.
Daimon interjected, saying that Sakurai is only speaking crap.
She lashed at her, asking whether Sakurai is really qualified
to speak such words, and guessed that Sakurai has always been
impatient with her, and that what she have said is just a
lip-service. Daimon then started to have another flashback…
[Flashback mode on]
Sakurai touched Daimon’s hand and exclaimed
that she doesn’t have to worry about anything, because
she (Sakurai) will always believe in her forever. She added
that she will always support her, and that she will help her…
[Flashback mode off]
Daimon then started to remind Sakurai that she actually believes
on her, that Sakurai will save her. Sakurai replied that she
does, but Daimon countered, asking on why Sakurai didn’t
come to save her at that time…. (Daimon has another
flashback here)
[Flashback mode on]
Daimon is shown trying to burn a pile of trash laced
with gasoline, as she started to cry when she does it…
[Flashback mode off]
Daimon then tells Sakurai that she has waited for her to
come after she started to burn the school, but she didn’t.
She asked her on why Sakurai did not come to save her, and
speculates that Sakurai have not believed what Daimon has
told her, and she thoughts that Daimon is trying to cheat
her. Daimon then started to have another flashback…
[Flashback mode on]
A fireman is trying to wake a semi-conscious Daimon,
and he urged her to hang-on. He then tells a colleague to
call the ambulance, because Daimon has suffered heavy burns.
Daimon is squirming with pain, with her back heavily burned…
[Flashback mode off]
Daimon then removed her coats and shows the scar on her back,
and asked Sakurai about why she should believe on her after
she suffers such a heavy burns. She continued, asking on why
she should believe on anyone else after what have happened
to her. Suddenly, Sakurai puts her own coat around Daimon
covering the scar, as she commented that Daimon is so pitiful.
Sakurai exclaimed that the scar must have inconvenienced her
for a long time, but she (Sakurai) has always being proud
because of that very scar.
Daimon is puzzled when she hears her, and Sakurai explained
that Daimon must have forgotten, but actually Sakurai did
come to the school at that time. Sakurai then lifted her shirt
to show a similar scar on her back, shocking Daimon in the
process. The stunned Daimon can only listened as Sakurai continued,
saying that she has come to the burning school and rescued
her from the fire….
[Flashback mode on]
A glimpse of Sakurai is shown carrying Daimon on
her back, braving her way through the burning hallway.
[Flashback mode off]
The speechless Daimon then started to speak, asking whether
Sakurai has really come to save her at that time, but both
of them do not realize that somewhere else in the school,
Shibuya has started to make his own fire….
FINISHED.
