Lesson #187 – Friends.
(Narration, narration, narration!!!!)

(Kunio) Murai who are still stunned after hearing what (Eikichi) Onizuka has said, asked Onizuka on what have really happened. He exclaimed that what Onizuka have said cannot be true, because at that time, (Miyabi) Aizawa herself told them about what have happened. Suddenly, Aizawa interjected, saying that what Onizuka have said is true, much to Murai’s shock. Aizawa then reiterated the fact Onizuka have explained, that everything is just a farce, and that the writings on the blackboard was actually written by her. She continued, saying that a year ago, she went to Ogi’s house, and much to her surprise, he introduced his fiancée to her. (Taadaki) Kusano, (Anko) Uehara and (Shiro) Shibuya are stunned to hear what she have said while Onizuka and (Kouji) Fujiyoushi are silent all along, as Aizawa added that she decided to punish Ogi, because after all, at that time, she have feelings for him.

The students are speechless when they hear Aizawa’s declaration, while she herself started to smile with the tears on her cheeks…

(webmaster note: Aizawa monologues literally translated, scene description in brackets. Not exactly monologues, but the exact words Aizawa said to the students as she explained what have really happened back then one year ago)

=================
Page 1 – (White Background) At that time… I have a little feeling of wanting to have him as my own*
(webmaster note: tricky to translate, but this should be enough)

Page 2- (A scene from one year ago, in the teacher’s room where Ogi is being flanked by lots of students) Don’t you all feels that way? (Scenes of Aizawa and Ogi eating and laughing together at his apartment) Eating together with a teacher who is loved by lots of female students… sometimes going out while holding hand together to shopping malls… I always feel that he* (sensei) treated me differently compared with others... I always feel happy, because I think he* (sensei) must have liked me very much… Just when I am feeling that way, he* (sensei) had brought home another girl to his house…

Page 3 – (Aizawa arrives at Ogi’s house, knocking the door and asked whether he is at home, adding that she have brought with her some foods and asked for permission to enter. As she entered, Aizawa is basking about the great foods she had made with the help of her mom, when Ogi suddenly interjected, commenting that her arrival is really timely. Aizawa is puzzled to hear him, and he explained that he wants to introduce a person to her. The person he is talking about stepped forward and asked whether she is really Aizawa, adding that she is really cute. The person turns out to be a beautiful lady, and she introduced herself to Aizawa as Maho Sumida.)

Page 4 – (Aizawa is stunned to see her, as the sheepish Ogi tells her that he and the lady has already engaged, shocking Aizawa. Aizawa can only stared at them as he tells her that they will be married in the next year summer holiday.)

Page 5 – (The 3 of them started to have their meals together, as Ogi and her fiancée are oblivious to the change of Aizawa’s attitude) That event is surely a big blow to me… because for all the time, I think that he* (sensei) has also reciprocated my feelings… …I don’t anticipate this at all… …But why… (Aizawa can be heard asking Ogi on why she can’t be together with her. She then fired another question, whether he is thinking that she is still a kid, and Ogi stammered as he replied that the reason is because she is one of his students. Hearing that, Aizawa stared to stammer herself, saying that his reason is not valid (or not applicable in the situation they are in). She then tells him to look at her, adding that she is not a child anymore and that her breasts are large enough just like an adult. Ogi pleaded to her to stop what she is trying to do, and suddenly a loud thump can be heard echoing in the room…)

Page 6 – (Aizawa is now on the floor, with her clothes half-undone as Ogi himself can only stared at her because the loud thump earlier is the sound of Ogi slapping Aizawa. Aizawa started to have tears on her eyes while putting her hand on the cheek where Ogi has slapped her earlier, and she started to remind him that he himself has told her that he likes her. Ogi reiterated, saying that he is only talking about the relationship between teachers and students, and suddenly Aizawa screamed about Ogi being a liar. She stormed outside the apartment ignoring Ogi who tried to stop her. Then someone is shown writing something on the blackboard) I can’t forgive him* (sensei)… because he has once said that he likes me…

Page 7 (half page) – (It turns out that Aizawa is the one who wrote the accusation about Ogi raping her on the blackboard) ...so I want to teach him a little lesson… I wrote on the blackboard that he has raped me… I am also the one who wrote that he have taken naked pictures of me to make it looks real. This is because Ogi really like taking pictures… I hope by doing this, he will repent…

Murai and the rest of the students are now silent when they hears her, as Aizawa continued, saying that she never anticipates that the event will turns out to become worse. Uehara is silent too as Aizawa started to laugh, saying that she is really a bastard, because she has dragged the class down just because of her own jealousy. That’s the reason why she always lives in suffering, because everyone is so kind to her who they think is a ‘victim’. More tears started to flow off her cheeks, as she continued, saying that the kinder their treatment for her, her hatred of what she has done also increased.

Fujiyoushi is silent amongst the stunned audience, and Aizawa says that she feared that everyone will start to hate her if she spilled the beans. Onizuka is still smoking as Aizawa started to tell the students about how she always have bad dreams, thus she had asked her father to transferred her out from the school. She choose to elope from the school and continued to lie, because if she does it that way, everyone will still become friends with her, but Fujiyoushi has told her that with what she is doing, it only shows that she is trying to run away from reality.

Aizawa then started to have a flashback, where she was woken up from one of her usual nightmares. She thinks to herself that she has started to become insane, and she started to descend the stairs of her house as she silent screamed to herself that she can’t stand it anymore. She vowed not to lie again, and she approached her father who is doing some of his office works at home, and she asked her puzzled father to transfer her out from the school, or else…

(Azusa) Fuyutsuki and Uehara started to sweat as (Hiroshi) Uchiyamada who are standing right below the commotion is still screaming in panic. Aizawa apologized because she is such a dirty bastard, and because of her selfish reason, she had dragged her friends down with her. She then started to step toward the edge of the roof, and exclaimed that all of them should forget her from now on, because she now has to die to pay for her sin. She then reiterated that they should just forget her who is a liar and a bastard.

Suddenly, Onizuka grabbed Aizawa’s hand which in the process of letting go of the safety fence, and he asked her whether by committing suicide, everything can be solved. He lashed at her, adding that what she is trying to do surely doesn’t make sense. He then asked her; whether she is willing to get his help to jump from the building, shocking Aizawa. Without saying anything, Onizuka grabbed Aizawa off her feet and then dangles her over the edge with a smirk on his face. Aizawa started to scream in fright and Onizuka started to chuckle as the rest of the student started to scream after seeing what he is trying to do.

A teacher lashed at him, asking on whether he is trying to kill his own student, and he nonchalantly replied that he wants to help her in her dying process. He then asked Aizawa whether he is right, and she screamed back at him, asking for him to stop. Onizuka ignored her, and instead he proceeds to tell her that if she dies, she will cause them a great monetary loss. He asked Aizawa whether she realized that, and he explained that if she dies in her suicide attempt, the school has to erect a blockade at her death scene, causing the school to spend more expenses in creating paper works, mass media handling, miscellaneous expenses and more.

Uchiyamada who are still panicking below the scene, screamed at Onizuka not to instigate Aizawa to commit suicide (to protect his car) as Onizuka continued, saying that her death will surely costs millions of yen. He lashed at her, asking if she really thinks her death will solve everything when actually it will only bring more troubles to whoever she left behind. He cursed, screaming at Aizawa to stop acting like a child. Murai and Fujiyoushi are shocked when they hear Onizuka asking Aizawa to try and think more thoughtfully about what will happen to her friends when they see their best friend dies right in front of them, and that the sight of her splattered body will surely etched itself in their minds forever.

Students from all over the school sections started to wonder on what happened on the roof, as Onizuka continued, asking Aizawa to think again about the monetary damage she will done if she just jumped to her death from the building. He then tells her that she will bring a bad influence to all the students, especially the ones who are present in the scene. The students who witnesses her death will surely experienced a trauma, thus they have to be admitted to hospitals for mental evaluation, and those treatments will surely cost at least tens of thousands of yen. Then the cost for ambulance to ferry her body, or whatever remains from her fall will surely cost at least 30,000 yen, the burial ceremony will cost 2.5 million yen and the funeral expenses will cost more and more money. He screamed at her, asking that she will drag them down with all those expenses, she doesn’t have the right to say that she will solve all the present problems by jumping over the edge of the building. Onizuka suddenly says that the teacher named Ogi is actually just the same as her…

Onizuka started to remember his meet with Ogi at his trailer truck, where Ogi started to rant about how everything that have happened was his fault, and that he should at least reciprocate her feelings so that what have happened can be prevented. He then says that because of that ‘event’, he feels that he has to take the responsibility and decided to leave the school, so that Aizawa can be saved from doing more foolish things if he has stayed in the school. Ogi then wondered himself whether he should commit suicide for what he have done, because he still let Aizawa coming to his apartment even that he knows that she loved him, and that the main reason why his fiancée left him. He then remembered that Aizawa has said that they should have a relationship, ignoring the teacher-student links, and he laughed, saying he should have a relationship with her, preventing what have happened to him and Aizawa. Suddenly Onizuka moved and punched him on his cheek...

After remembering what have happened, Onizuka becomes angry at Ogi for saying that he should have a relationship with Aizawa back then, and how dare he treated a girl who really likes him that way. That is the reason why he punched him with 200 fists, and he now must be warded somewhere in a hospital. He then started to wonder whether he is wrong himself, and that he feels that Aizawa cannot continue being irresponsible as a solution to her problems, because after all, Aizawa is just someone who can’t accept the reality as facts.

Aizawa is stunned after hearing what Onizuka has said, and he asked her again, whether she really think that she can solve the problem confronting her now by avoiding the responsibility that she have to shoulder. Onizuka throws her against the safety fence, and Onizuka lashed at her, saying that it’s OK for everyone lies sometimes, but the worst will come if anyone runs away when he or she is confronted by problems. He tells her that she should at least apologize to her friends before jumping to her death, even that they doesn’t want to forgive her, because it is the most logical thing to do if she ever feels guilty of doing something. She should also stop thinking that suicide is an easy way out of her problems.

Aizawa is silent after being lectured by Onizuka, when suddenly a voice speaks out saying that Onizuka is right, puzzling the students. The voice continued, asking Aizawa whether thinking about death is a good thing or not without his permission. The voice turns out to be Takumi, who have come to the school along with (Yoshito) Kikuchi. He walked toward Aizawa, telling her that she is a real naughty kid and asked her not to scare her friends anymore. He continued, saying that what has happened is not all her fault, because the main reason is because he is a very hot-blooded kid.

Takumi then explained, that after that ‘event’, Ogi had actually told him about what have really happened, adding that everything was just a misunderstanding, but he (Takumi) doesn’t have the gut to tell everyone about what Ogi have told him because he himself doesn’t want to disturb her feelings. Aizawa is silent as he continued, saying that after he was sent to a delinquency school at Okinawa, he assumed a nickname on the Internet and reads about her latest news via Kikuchi. In the end, it turns out that the ‘protection’ method he and Ogi are using has only driven Aizawa to a dead end.

Takumi smiled, and exclaimed that he should have realized that a wound will not be healed if it only being treated by covering it with a bandage, which actually will only make things worse. Aizawa is silent after she hears him, and Takumi continued, saying that everything that have happened is not her fault alone, and that he will not forgive her if she proceeds to commit suicide. He suggested that everyone should go together to apologize to the teacher they have bullied, and Murai agreed, adding that they are involved too in what have happened. Another student interjected, saying that everyone in the class is acting (teacher bullying) because of Aizawa, but as time wore on, personal problems seeps in and they used that excuse to continue on bullying their teachers.

(Ai) Tokiwa then says that everyone is right, and that the problem is not her alone, thus everyone have to share the responsibility in dealing with the problem. She then asked Aizawa to return from the dangerous side of the fence, and every students started to echo her sentiments, asking Aizawa to return to the safe side to start her life anew. Aizawa is now speechless, and suddenly Onizuka exclaimed that looking at young people like them makes him remembers his own time as a student. He ask her whether she realized that she is actually a very lucky person, and that if he is right if he says that her problem is not hers to be solved alone anymore. Takumi and Kikuchi smiled as Onizuka continued, saying that Aizawa should let the others to help her solving her problems, because such nice people like them are hard to find.

Everyone now started to smile after hearing what Onizuka has said, including Fuyutsuki, (Chikako) Shirai, (Saeko) Iijima, Uehara, Yoshikawa and the others. Aizawa is now trying hard to hold back her tears, and she started to stammer, saying that what he have said is impossible to achieve , but Onizuka countered, saying that she is such a spoiled brat who likes to stall the time. He asked on why anyway Aizawa wants to do that, because after all, all her friends has willingly agreed to help her, so Aizawa should just go with the flow. Then, she should just repay her dues to them later at her own pace. Onizuka then patted Aizawa’s head, which has now covered her face with her hands, and says that she is everyone’s best friend, so she should not reject their offer anymore.

Fuyutsuki started to smile, and as Onizuka is asking Kikuchi to help Aizawa to return to the safe side of the fence, Shibuya has now started to growl in anger. Suddenly, he snapped, and asked everyone on what the hell they are talking about ‘best friends’ anyway, adding that all of them suck. Yoshikawa is puzzled to see Shibuya’s attitude, and Shibuya started to stand up as he asked again whether they are now seeing some soap opera being performed on the stage. He continued, saying that the audience will surely reject such an ending.

He then rammed his head on the face of a teacher right behind him, and surged forward to the safety fence. He screamed to the puzzled Aizawa that she is a high-school student who has been raped, and that she should have died at the very spot they are in no. The students are puzzled to hear him, as another teacher asked him on what he is talking about while trying to take him off from the safety fence. Suddenly, Shibuya kicked the teacher right on his face, shocking another teacher right next to him. Shibuya lashed at the teacher, calling him stupid, and that he will kill anyone who tried to get in the way of his plans.

Shibuya then screamed again, asking Aizawa to jump off the building ASAP, and that he will help her if she is scared. Onizuka is puzzled to see Shibuya, and he barged forward as he asked Shibuya on what he is doing. In the process of doing so, he accidentally banged onto Aizawa, and the stunned Onizuka only turns around to see Aizawa is now off the edge of the building, much to the shock of everyone. Onizuka screamed, as Aizawa started to fall down the building to her death…
