Lesson 142: Our 3 ½ months together.

It is nighttime, and the school compound is filled with angry parents who demand explanations about the poison pen letter's contents. (Tadashi) Sakurai, (Kouji) Sannohmaru and another teacher are busy trying to calm them, but the parents ignored them, and instead demand to meet with the school administration. Sakurai started to explain, with his broken English, that the school will need more time to investigate the matter, but he is instead criticized for his poor English by the parents.

(Yoshito) Kikuchi and (Mayu) Wakui arrive at the school and they are shocked to see the commotion. Kikuchi asks (Kunio) Murai, who was already at the school and witnessed what had happened, and he explained that he had heard that many parents had received anonymous faxes defaming (Eikichi) Onizuka, and that the parents arrived at the school because that they want to see Onizuka for themselves. Kikuchi is shocked because he remembered that he and Onizuka had promised to meet at the school, and Onizuka will surely be screwed if he returned right now.

The parents started to get aggressive, demanding to see the school administrators while the teachers ask them to calm down. Suddenly Onizuka appears from nowhere, holding a plastic bag full of pornographic videos asking why everyone is calling his name while he scratches his ass. Meanwhile, (Noboru) Yoshikawa is holding a box of toys and puzzingly stares at the parents. The parents are shocked to see him without any shirt on, when suddenly all the videos fall to the ground.

Onizuka curses as he recollectes the videos, adding that buying 15 pornographic tapes is probably too much for him to handle alone and askes Yoshikawa to help him collect them. Murai started to run towards them, screaming for Onizuka to put away all the tapes from the eyes of the parents. All the parents are shocked and disgusted to see him and they start to complain how someone that looks like a wayward, homeless thug can be appointed as a teacher. Others claim that Onizuka looks like a bouncer and also a skateboarder, puzzling Onizuka himself.

Onizuka asks Sannohmaru about what had happened, and what the old "men and women" are doing at the school. The panicking Sannohmaru tells him that an anonymous fax had been sent to them that defamed Onizuka. Onizuka is surprised. He then reads the contents and started to laugh, saying that the fax is professionally made from newspaper cuts just like a real ransom letter. Sannohmaru criticizes him for still laughing, when suddenly one of the parents exclaims that the parents sent their children to Kichiyouji Private School because they thought that the school was a prestigious one, but instead a retarded teacher like Onizuka is hired. The parents declare that they will meet with the school's administration and file a complaint to the education board.

Onizuka is angry when he heard the parent call him a retard, and they started to quarrel as (Ryoko) Sakurai is watching everything from the meeting room. A member of the school's board of directors exclaims to her that the matter is worsening. Another director exclaims that the temp teacher had caused more trouble, and that the principal (Hiroshi Uchiyamada) is also at fault for sending the fax. The director then continued saying that the rest of the directors had empowered Sakurai to administer the school and asked Sakurai whether she ever thinks about their positions when she is making decisions. The director then asked whether she is still hoping for a miracle to happen while Sakurai and Itagake is silent.

A parent started to stare at Onizuka right in his face and he accused Onizuka for influencing his son to color his hair blonde just like him (Onizuka). Onizuka asks "Little Eyes" what he is talking about, adding if "Little Eyes" doesn't like his son's hair color he can simply cut it. The parent yells at Onizuka for calling him "Little Eyes" while Sannohmaru tries to calm the parents. Suddenly, "Little Eyes" punches Onizuka, and Onizuka starts to become pissed off at "Little Eyes". "Little Eyes" tells him to shut up because Onizuka is the one who influenced his son to become aggressive lately.

Yoshikawa started to scream, saying that Onizuka is not a bad teacher, but the parents don't believe him. Another parent then exclaims that Onizuka must be the one who influenced his daughter to always return late at night as other parents started to talk with each other. Onizuka is silent as he hears them, and Murai criticizes the parents for trying to put all the blame on Onizuka's shoulders. Suddenly, Onizuka farted loudly, and the parents are overwhelmed by the stench. They started to yell at him for being vulgar, and Onizuka screams back at them, asking them to shut-up.

He then asks why the parents don't have any faith in their own children's ability to determine what is bad and what is good. Yoshikawa and Kikuchi are shocked. Onizuka continues, saying that parents like them who don't believe in their own children will only make their children angry with them. Everyone is stunned when they hear him. Meanwhile back at the meeting room, a director punches the desk and asks Sakurai to give an explanation to the parents or else her job will be in jeopardy. Sakurai ignored them as she looked down at the commotion.

Suddenly, the parents and Onizuka hears someone screaming asking them to stop bickering, and they are stunned to see (Hiroshi) Uchiyamada standing at the gate with a taxi wheeling away from the school. The teachers and Sakurai are shocked to see Uchiyamada. The teachers then ask Uchiyamada on why he was missing when so many problems have occurred at the school, but instead of answering their question, he started to kneel on the ground, puzzling everyone.

He started to apologize to the parents, saying that he is the one who faxed the poison pen letter. The parents and the teachers are shocked to hear his confession. Uchiyamada then continued, saying that he really hated Onizuka for a very long time since he first met him at the interview session. At that time, he had the same feeling that the parents have-- that with Onizuka' blond hair, earrings and low qualifications, it will be embarrassing if Onizuka becomes a teacher at Kichiyouji Private School. He knows and agreed with the parents that people will look susupiciously at the school if Onizuka, with his filthy looks, is teaching at the school. The school will be finished with the rising number of disciplinary cases, and students will not want to come to school.

But instead, the reverse is happening. Every time Onizuka does weird things, he is capable of making the problematic students smile and consequently, the ones who don't like to come to school will happily return to the school everyday. The parents are silent. Uchiyamada continues saying that the rest of the teachers were not able to do what Onizuka had accomplished in only 3 months at the school, even though the other teachers works so hard for years. Uchiyamada then tells the parents on how Onizuka saved (Urumi) Kanzaki's life earlier in the day, and that Onizuka never hesitated to remove his own clothes to cover Kanzaki's freezing body. He then exclaimed that not every teacher would do such things because most of them are afraid to be branded as hot-blooded teachers and being fired.

Uchiyamada then explained that when he saw Onizuka save Kanzaki Urumi's life, he realized that he, himself had been thinking backwards for a very long time and he thanked a puzzled Onizuka for giving him a revelation, so that he can return to what the essences of the teaching profession really are. The parents and teachers are completely silent when they hear him, and Kikuchi is smiling. Uchiyamada then exclaimed that he is the one who should be blamed and that he will tender his resignation letter now.

Suddenly, a hand stopped him, and Uchiyamada is shocked to see Sakurai looking silently at him. She then introduced herself to the parents and she started to apologize for what had happened today. She then explained that what Uchiyamada had done was for the good of the school because a blond teacher with earrings is hard to find in any school, and she understands what the parents felt when they first saw Onizuka. She was talking a large chance when she decided to employ Onizuka in the first place.

She then asked the parents to just let her handle everything, explaining that after Onizuka was appointed as a teacher, he managed to bring back all the students who were on the brink of self-destruction back to school and the right path and this achievement alone is a miracle to the other other law-abiding teachers. She continued saying that Onizuka was really creating a miracle at the school, and she continued to bet that, with his erratic attitude, Onizuka would be able to create more 'miracles' for the sake of the school.

The parents, the other teachers, and the members of the board of directors are all silent. Sakurai started to tear Uchiyamada's resignation letter, much to his shock. He started to protest, but she interjected saying that Uchiyamada's confession earlier reminded her of when he first came to the school as a teacher full of spirit and enthusiasm. She then smiles and says that she expects better performances from him in the future. Uchiyamada is stunned to hear her and he started to cry as the parents started to leave the school compound. Onizuka then tried to ask Sakurai on whether she is talking about shooting stars when she talked about miracles earlier, but Sakurai tells him not to quiet down, because he doesn't have to worry about it. She then looked at the school gate and exclaimed that the summer had arrived.

In the next scene, Kanzaki arrived at her house and sees everything in disarray. She started to think that after her own ordeal, she now understands that adults also have their own problems, and she will now be able to experience a different summer than what she had before. She walked into her mom's workroom and sees her mom slumped on the floor, murmuring about the whereabouts of Kanzaki. She looks around the room and started to hug her mom from behind, asking her mom not to be afraid because she will be able to stand back up because she is beside her now. She then touched her mom's hand and vowed that they would try to start from scratch together. Then, she silently thinks that the longest unforgettable semester she ever had, fulled with many sad things, is about to end..

FINISHED
